Successful Cup Start
In the first-round match of the DFB-Cup, VfB Stuttgart defeated third-division side Hansa Rostock 4:0 at the Ostsee Stadium. The team, led by coach Sebastian Hoeneß, played with confidence and focus. Hoeneß praised his players’ “top attitude” and stressed that the cup has its own rules that must be met “alertly.” The victory was decisive, and the atmosphere in the stadium was lively.
Pejcinovic’s Hat-trick
The 21-year-old new signing Dzenan Pejcinovic scored three goals in his first competitive appearance. He worked closely with his striker partner Deniz Undav, who provided two assists. The first goal came from Tiago Tomás, who put the team ahead 3:0. Hoeneß described Pejcinovic as “very positive” and called him a “giant impact” on the game. Pejcinovic himself was relaxed and said the team would analyse the result and prepare for the upcoming Bundesliga campaign.
Bredlow’s Parade
Goalkeeper Fabian Bredlow made six saves in the match, some of them spectacular. Hoeneß highlighted him, saying Bredlow had reliably cleared “tough situations.” Bredlow will remain in goal until his teammate Dennis Seimen recovers, which strengthens the club’s defence. The keeper’s performance contributed significantly to the clear 4:0 win.
Outlook
VfB will start the new Bundesliga season on 28 August against German champions FC Bayern Munich. The team must now prepare for the challenge of the second cup round and the upcoming Bundesliga fixtures.
