Stuttgart – Leonidas Stergiou (24), a VfB defender, had limited opportunities as a loan player in Heidenheim last season. His chances of playing for Stuttgart were slim, leading to plans for his departure. However, the situation has changed.
With Dan-Axel Zagadou (27) out due to a muscle injury in his thigh until at least the end of September, Stuttgart needs defensive reinforcements. The club is now planning to rely on Stergiou, who can play both as a central and right-back. Stergiou earns relatively low wages and accepts his role in the team, which adds to his value. He is also a potential alternative for Lorenz Assignon (26), who underwent shoulder surgery at the end of the season and will need some time to return to full training.
Stergiou Still Not Fully Convinced
Although Stergiou is fit, he needs urgent game practice. According to BILD reports, he has not yet made a final decision on his future. He wants to wait and see how much trust the VfB has in him. Nevertheless, it currently seems likely that Stergiou will continue to wear the Brustring jersey in the upcoming season.
