VfB Stuttgart will play a friendly match against 1. FC Heidenheim on Friday. The benefit game in Weinstadt is already sold out and will be streamed live on VfB-TV.
The match at the Stadion Benzach kicks off at 4:30 PM. All proceeds will go to the Bürgerstiftung Weinstadt charity, and all originally sold tickets remain valid. For VfB, it is the first of two test matches during the unusually long international break. A game against SpVgg Greuther Fürth in Aspach follows on October 1.
Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß views this period as a valuable training opportunity. “It's like an extended pre-season,” Hoeneß said. “The point is to use the time. Especially for the lads who started later or are carrying knocks.”
The opponent from the 2. Bundesliga is in good form. Heidenheim sits third in the table with 13 points from four games. In head-to-head meetings since Heidenheim's promotion, each side has recorded two home wins alongside two 3-3 draws.
For VfB, the game offers a chance to build positive momentum after two consecutive Bundesliga defeats. Sebastian Hoeneß's team currently sits 15th in the table with three points from four matches. Their last two league games against Borussia Dortmund and Hoffenheim ended in defeat.
Following the friendly against Fürth, the next competitive match is away to SC Paderborn 07 on October 10. Preparations for that game are underway, though the injury list featuring Dan Zagadou, Lorenz Assignon, and Luca Jaquez remains lengthy. Friday's match in Weinstadt will be streamed live for free on VfB-TV starting at approximately 4:25 PM.
