VfB Stuttgart's injury-plagued stars fight for comeback
Ameen Al-Dakhil and Badredine Bouanani aim to return to VfB Stuttgart's starting lineup after injury-riddled seasons. League standing: 4th in Bundesliga, 0 pts. The Belgian Al-Dakhil (24) uses cupping therapy, while Bouanani (21) trains hard despite the heat.
What are the VfB stars doing for their comeback?
Al-Dakhil underwent cupping therapy at Akhijama Belgium, a specialist who also treated BVB stars Serhou Guirassy and Ramy Bensebaini. With 60 cupping glasses and candles on his back, he showed his endurance on Instagram. Cupping is meant to improve circulation and relieve tension. Since joining VfB in August 2024, Al-Dakhil has missed almost 600 days due to injuries or illness.
How does Bouanani train despite the heat?
Bouanani worked out with personal trainer Mesut Temel at over 30 degrees on dribbling and finishing. After a luxury vacation on Mykonos, the Algerian wants to be in top shape for Thursday's training start. Bought for 20 million euros from OGC Nizza, Bouanani has only made 14 league appearances without a goal or assist.
What does this mean for the new season?
Both players want to re-establish themselves under coach Sebastian Hoeneß. VfB Stuttgart is currently 4th in the Bundesliga with 0 points. Next match: against SC Paderborn 07 (home game, February 20, 2027).
