Stuttgart – Dženan Pejčinović (21), the 21-year-old striker from VfL Wolfsburg, joins VfB Stuttgart for €25 million. He signed a five-year contract until 2031 and is expected to earn around €2.5 million per season.
The transfer was finalized on Sunday, with the clubs reaching an agreement. On Monday morning, Pejčinović underwent a medical check-up at the club's center in Stuttgart. BILD caught up with the new signing just before he signed his contract at the VfB headquarters.
Pejčinović arrived in Stuttgart around 12:54 PM with advisor Karl Herzog, while his brother Ramo was already there an hour earlier. The motto for Pejčinović: From Wolfsburg to Stuttgart, from the VW club to Mercedes Street!
The transfer wasn't without its challenges. At one point, it seemed like the deal might fall through as VfB Stuttgart started looking at alternatives. However, on the weekend, things moved quickly. A basic agreement was reached and only final details needed to be sorted out.
Interestingly, Pejčinović sat on the bench for Wolfsburg's 0:0 draw against 1. FC Kaiserlautern on Saturday evening, not wanting to jeopardize the transfer. The striker, who scored 12 goals in the last Bundesliga season, was not substituted into the match.
The DFB U21 national team player had early on set his sights on VfB Stuttgart and wanted to move to the Neckar region. Now, after a long back-and-forth, he is finally in Stuttgart. He signs a five-year contract until 2031 while Wolfsburg secures its desired transfer fee.
This transfer represents a win-win situation: VfB Stuttgart gets its desired striker, Wolfsburg its desired money, and Pejčinović his desired club. According to BILD information, the player will not have an exit clause in his contract.
