Milosevic and Jovanovic shine – but their exit looms
VfB Stuttgart faces life without two promising forwards despite their impressive pre-season display. Jovan Milosevic (20) and Lazar Jovanovic (19) each scored twice in the 7:0 thrashing of Balingen – yet both now want to leave the club. With the team sitting fourth in the Bundesliga (62 points from 34 games, +22 goal difference), Stuttgart must address their attacking options.
Why the Serbs are heading for the exit
Milosevic, at VfB since 2023 and most recently on loan at Werder Bremen, has never broken through. The striker now pushes for a permanent move and is demanding around six million euros in compensation. Manager Sebastian Hoeneß (44) noted: „He’s young, has already played Bundesliga football in Bremen and scored goals. Playing time is what matters now.“ The club is monitoring his situation daily.
Jovanovic, signed last summer, managed just three Bundesliga appearances in his debut season. The winger sees no future at Stuttgart and prefers a loan exit. Hoeneß added: „Lazar has enormous quality – playing is crucial for him.“ Both players are ineligible for the second team due to non-EU status.
VfB Stuttgart’s transfer puzzle
Stuttgart now faces the task of offloading two talented but frustrated attackers. Milosevic could fetch around six million euros, while Jovanovic is likely to leave on loan. Finding replacements won’t be easy, given both have Bundesliga experience.
What happens next?
The futures of Milosevic and Jovanovic hinge on transfer talks. Stuttgart must act fast to avoid losing them outright – or find a way to keep them playing. With a 71:49 goal ratio (+22) and 27 points behind Bayern Munich, the pressure on the team remains high. Their next match is on August 1 against Paris FC, following a winless run in their last five games (LLDDW).
The Serbs have proven their worth – but without game time, departure seems inevitable.
