VfB Stuttgart has officially said goodbye to goalkeeper Alexander Nübel. Instead, the Bundesliga club will rely on homegrown talent Dennis Seimen in the upcoming season. The 20-year-old returns from a loan and will be the number one goalkeeper. Alexander Nübel was loaned out from FC Bayern Munich for three years. He was a key figure in the team's resurgence: Vizemeisterschaft 2024, DFB-Pokal-Sieg 2025, and Champions-League-Qualifikation 2026 are all tied to the 29-year-old, who also played a crucial role in the team's dynamics with his calm and composed demeanor. The contract of the national goalkeeper at the German record champion still runs until 2030. However, the plans of the Munich team no longer include the World Cup participant. "It was an incredible time at VfB Stuttgart. My family and I had three wonderful years in Stuttgart, and I felt very comfortable from the first day", Nübel explained, who played 129 official games for VfB. "The team and the fans showed me a lot of appreciation and respect, for which I am very grateful." The VfB would have had to financially stretch themselves to secure Nübel's services. Possibly, the 29-year-old will now move abroad. The international top clubs Manchester City and Juventus Turin are reportedly interested in Nübel, according to Sport Bild. Dennis Seimen, a homegrown talent, is facing his first tests. "Alexander Nübel has set standards over the past three years. Sportingly, character-wise, on and off the pitch", said Sport Director Fabian Wohlgemuth about the national goalkeeper. "On Alex, we could always rely."
