VfB Stuttgart play their second UEFA Champions League group stage match away to Slovan Bratislava on Wednesday. The game at Tehelne Pole Stadion kicks off at 9 PM local time.
Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß's team travels with confidence. Last Saturday's 2-0 away win at SC Paderborn marked a third consecutive victory. That followed two Bundesliga defeats against Borussia Dortmund and 1899 Hoffenheim. In the domestic league, Stuttgart currently sit 11th with six points from five matches.
Opponents Slovan Bratislava began their campaign with a heavy 6-1 loss at Paris Saint Germain. The Slovakian side employed a 4-1-4-1 formation with striker Sporar leading the line.
Recent Lineups
Stuttgart lined up in a 3-4-2-1 formation for the win in Paderborn. Goalkeeper Seimen was protected by a back three of Hendriks, Chabot and Mittelstadt. The goals were scored by Chabot and Chris Führich, both assisted by Stiller.
The squad can rely on a productive attack, having scored 13 goals in their last five competitive matches.
Following the European fixture, a Bundesliga away game against fellow mid-table side Hamburger SV awaits this weekend.
Preparation for the important Champions League trip to Slovakia is now complete. For VfB, the task is to extend their positive run and collect their first points in Europe's premier competition.
